EditPad Lite 6.5.2

'EditPad Lite' is a text editor that can serve as a replacement for Windows Notepad. It should be used to edit simple text files without any formatting (txt, htm, html, shtml). You can change the font used to display the text in the user interface, but it isn't possible to save the formatting options. The program supports color schemes, so you can customize its appearance.

When you start the program, an icon appears in your system tray. This icon allows you to open the editor quickly, without any hassle. Since the application remains active in the background, it reloads very fast. While providing all the features of Windows Notepad, EditPad Lite also comes with improved functionality. EditPad Lite supports editing multiple files at the same time. Each file you edit appears in a new tab, allowing you to switch between documents easily. The tabs are colored, depending on the state of the file. The modified files are displayed using red tabs by default.

The search & replace feature is quite powerful. It enables you to replace text in all the files that are opened in the editor. Search history is also provided, enabling you to fill-in the text easily in the search panel.

Pluses: The application supports drag-and-drop. You can select multiple files and drag them over the program's main window. Each file is then opened in a separate tab, allowing you to edit its contents. EditPad Lite supports converting text files into Windows (CR+LF), Unix (LF), and MAC (CR) format. I also liked the feature that rotates the alphabet and makes the text in a file unreadable.

The setup options allow you to install thhis app on a portable device such as an USB Memory Stick.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: EditPad Lite is a good text editing application. However, Notepad++ can be an alternative to this software. I definitely recommend that you try it as well.
